Amazon Ups Their Amazon Prime Membership Price

The e-commerce giant is at it again, this time to up the price of their Prime membership. Amazon was recently in the news (well, isn’t the company always?) for finally hitting 100 million Prime subscribers. Perhaps their way of celebrating almost topping Netflix’s 125 million subscribers is upping their prices. The yearly subscription will now cost $20 more, totaling $119 annually.

On Thursday, the retail juggernaut actually reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings results, hitting an all-time high. That’s what you call striking while the iron’s hot. According to CNBC, “Amazon shares soared as much as 7.9 percent in early trading Friday, briefly surpassing its all-time high of $1,617.54.”

Amazon is also working on the ability to install security systems in homes, locating its second head quarters location, and hoping to outsmart package thieves by putting your packages in the trunk of your car. Those are just a few of the ventures currently in the works for Jeff Bezos’ baby, and we can’t say we don’t like them.
