5 Cents? More Like 5 Million Dollars

Imagine finding a coin worth almost 500 million times its actual value. Such a thing exists, and its going on auction very soon. This Eliasberg 1913 Liberty Head Nickel could be worth anywhere between 3 to 5 million dollars. The coin is currently set to debut at the Stack’s Bowers Gallery in Philadelphia, where the coin has already begun bidding at 2.2 million dollars.

Only five of these specific coins exist in history, and two of them have been condemned to museums, so you’d be one of three people to own an actual, authentic version of this highly-sought-after coin. This coin in specific, owned by Louis E Eliasberg, Sr, is said to be the only of the five in Mint U.S. condition. Eliasberg was an American finance and numismatist, having completed many collections of coins and dollars worth more than their actual street value.

With two weeks left to decide if bidders want in on this rare specimen, we’ve compiled a player full of videos of previous auctions of coins that sold for way more than what they actually were produced for. Check it out above, and check back in a few weeks to see just how much the Eliasberg coin made in its auction.
